SPEAKER_01Reporting, reporting live from southwest London where it's really, really hot, it's unbearable. I don't know what we're doing. That's right. We need to get a fan, that's right. That's right. Reporting back to you in the studio.
SPEAKER_02That's right. That's right. Because, bro, bro, I'm not gonna lie to you. Yeah, this week, I've been feeling like I'm in a frying pond, bro. I've been feeling like I'm in an oven, bro. You get what I'm saying? Like, like fam, I have the opportunities to walk from home, yeah, because of the heat that said I'm going into work, bro. You gotta tell it.
SPEAKER_01I'm telling you, that's the air conditioned, mate. Let's go in. I had to get that cold breeze.
SPEAKER_02And you know what the annoying thing is, yeah. It's funny, but annoying as well. Yeah, every single year, I've been telling myself I'm gonna buy an air con. Ah, that's me, and I never do.
SPEAKER_01That's me.
SPEAKER_02You know what I mean? I said, bro. I said, yo, I'm gonna wait till the winter time when the air conditioners is obviously you know cheaper and all that kind of stuff, and then I'm gonna buy, and then I never do, yeah, and then summer time. I look at myself, I'll be like, yo, I I don't know the reason why I didn't buy this.
SPEAKER_01Now I'm so that's me, bro. I swear, it's crazy. Yeah, like today. I'm there scrolling through Amazon going, should I buy an air conditioning unit? I was like, nah, it's worthless. And some some some guy that sat right next to me was like, What's the point? It's just gonna be a few more days of this, and that's it. I'm like, Yeah, but once the heat starts to hit you, you're like, I wish I had bought this air conditioner.
SPEAKER_02Fam, I've been sleeping on the floor, bruv. Raw. I've been sleeping on the carpet, bro. I could not see you don't have a fan. No, I don't have a fan, bro. That's what I'm saying. I don't have a fan.
SPEAKER_01As you can see behind me, there that's a fan right there.
SPEAKER_02And you know what the funny thing is, yeah. Nigerians will be listening out thinking, yo, do you think you gotta grow up in Nigeria like this? No, the difference with this one is yeah, the humidity. Exactly. You go, I mean, it's not really the the temperature, whatever, it's the humidity. Yeah, you get what I'm saying, like there's no breeze, crazy. There's no breeze and everything, bro. Like Scotch five degrees, bro. Fam madness. Scotch, I've I've not seen Scotch this quiet for people that don't know who Scotch is. Scotch is my dog, right?
SPEAKER_01See me, I've seen my cat, bro.
SPEAKER_02This quiet he is so quiet, all he be doing is sleep, bruv. You get me? He just eats, he tries to play around a little bit, the heat like, nah, you get me. I love it, and then and then you see my man, he's like yeah, yeah, yeah. Bro, the whole fucking time, bro. You tell him, I'll gotta go and drink water, I'll gotta go and sleep, bro. The heat has been crazy, the heat has been nuts, bruv. He got me just one of them once and everything, but yeah, bro. You know, but have you been enjoying the World Cup though?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, man. Come on, come on, Cabo Verde, Cabo Verde. Yeah, let's go. To those that don't know what I'm talking about, Cape Verde. Yeah, Cape Verde. Wait, hold on. Wait, hold on.
SPEAKER_02Hold on. Hold on. Is that a team you're supporting?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's my African team for this World Cup.
SPEAKER_02Wait, Verde.
SPEAKER_01Not Senegal, not Ghana, not Morocco. I love underdogs. I love underdogs, man. Verde's first World Cup. They deserve all the world, they deserve all the support from all of us Africans. You know, everyone else we've mentioned, they've been to the World Cup before. It's exciting to see a new African country come into the you know, into the fray, and they've been impressive, you know. Beautiful country, beautiful people, beautiful food, amazing weather, you know, nice beaches. You know what I'm saying? So, yeah, man. Come on, Cabor Vade.
SPEAKER_02Nice beaches, and nice beaches, and go on, yeah. Keep on listening. You know, you you mentioned good food, good weather, good people, nice beaches, nice forest. What again? Go on. You're missing one thing. Nobody to me gonna be nice, nice bushes, nice bushes, everything, bro. But that one thing, but that one thing you don't want to mention it, yeah. Um, you'd have to tell me what that one thing is camera touching, mate. Uh listen, bruv. You know, but listen, I'm not gonna lie, the world cup has been good, bro. You know, I was laughing at one of my boys yesterday. Um USA loss. You get me? I had to bro. I had to laugh at him, bruv. You gotta say I had to proper laugh at him in that.
SPEAKER_01You know, a lot a lot of people had USA to win. I'm doing this. Um, this is not an ad anyway. Fuck Mob is an app, a football app. On there, you can start your own like prediction league. It's obviously for fun. And if you want to take it seriously in terms of like with your friends, you can then you know say the winner of that league would get blah blah blah, whatever it is, but it's just for fun, you know. I'm saying so the predictions. If you predict a score, right, you get three points. If you predict a win, right, you get two points. Of course, and if he's a the the zero, if you don't predict it right anyway, and um, I'm doing really well, man. Family well, bro from listen.
SPEAKER_02You just you just did some sort of ad right now. I need some shit on the ad, bruv. What's my man talking about, bro? My guy just did my guy. Just did an ad. Just like that. I need bro, fam. I need I need like 10 cut, bruv. What's getting out of here, bruv? You get me. I don't know what company paid you, but say yo, fam. I've got a co-host, you know. What's getting out of here, bruv?
unknownYou don't you don't even know the app.
SPEAKER_01That's that's the term that I didn't do an ad.
SPEAKER_02Hey, listen.
SPEAKER_01See, um, I skipped through the name Sharp Sharp. I just like that.
SPEAKER_02That's how we know about the app, bruv. You get me. That's how we know about the app. We know about the app now, bruv. We know about the app now, bruv. They don't know the name, trust me.
SPEAKER_01We should do uh Fresh of the Boats, the next World Cup. We'll do Fresh of the Boats. I mean prediction. I could yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Then we can join us too. They can join us too. But you know what, bro? I'm not gonna lie, the world cup has been good, yeah. At this point, at this point, I think my top two favorites is probably still Argentina and France. Top two.
SPEAKER_01You go, I mean, oh, I can't. You know what? I can't I can't argue that you're right, because obviously my goat is there, Messi is the greatest of all time, and France is looking too good, bro. Like today, the way they beat Norway. Granted, Norway were missing a few players, but yeah, but still look too strong, man. But still too strong. France looks too strong.
SPEAKER_02Do you think uh do you think Christian Ronaldo hates Messi? Do I think?
SPEAKER_01Do you think he hates him? No, no, no, no. You want to replace that? Do you know? Do you know he hates him? Yeah, bro. He doesn't like messy, bro. But that's that that's what's been that's the beauty, that's the beauty of um competition. That's what we call healthy competition. Not like our Ninja nonsense where they say your mother dead, your dad. No, no, no, no, no. This is healthy competition. Man said, I don't like you, you don't like me. But when we see each other, we have that respect for each other. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're great. I'm great. We are greatest, we are the greatest of all time, you know. That's the level.
SPEAKER_02Because the reason why I'm saying that is right, you could tell the last game of Portugal and everything. Yeah, Chris Ronaldo was he was on it, he needed to bang in those goals because the last couple days the media's been killing him, bro. And Messi just quietly, Messi cannot speak English or but but my guy just banging in goals and everything, bruv. Yeah, what a goals and and Ronaldo is happy now. You get me, and the media's been killing Ronaldo and everything, so he needed to do something, and then in the post-match um interview. Um, one of the guys asked him about Messi. He didn't want to talk about it.
SPEAKER_01Man say next, man said next. I like it. I like that, man. That's what that's that's what I'm talking about. That's what you call rivalry, you know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. You gotta say, like it was just one of them ones and everything, but then also that gonna match, the Ghana match against um England. From they cheated Ghana, man. I feel sorry for them. They cheated Ghana, yeah. From a lot of that shit, bro.
SPEAKER_01Bro, Ghana had a penalty. My man said a lot, a clean penalty, so much so that even English players in France said, you know what? It's true. Unfortunately, for some reason, for some reason, we didn't get a VAR check. Ha. But I get it.
SPEAKER_02From they came there to pack the balls, bruv.
SPEAKER_01That's the point. That's football. People keep forgetting that in football, find ways to get results. Yes, it might not be pretty, it might not be nice, but did you get your results? Yes, you did. Oh my god, you know what I mean? They did so well, and honestly, if I'm being honest, Ghana should have won that game. That penalty they didn't give today. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, they should have won that game.
SPEAKER_02But but but the thing is, I'm glad that they didn't get it because I don't think they earned it. You go, I mean, because the game was so lopsided and everything, yeah. They just came, bro. They did they just came and they were not even playing, breath. I'm not thinking, yo, what's going on? And the thing is, I was strolling people online. So on my Instagram story, I posted the England fan, yeah, uh, um flag and everything. Yeah, fam, do you know how many Ghanaians text me, bro? They were like, Fat, you're a traitor, you're a traitor. You get me? I was just fucking laughing and shit, you know. Yeah, but uh what do you think about what happened with with the handshake or with with the no handshake between um Spencer and Partey? What do you think about that whole thing?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I think it's up to every it's up to you as a person. Everyone is perfect, I guess, you know, in this situation, everyone has their moral limits, everyone is great in what they do, you know. At the end of the day I like Jet Spence, I think he's a very decent player, he's a good player. I'll be honest with you. He's decent to an extent, but yeah, it's you know, he's been charged, as they say, but he's not been found guilty. So why are we treating my man like he's already guilty?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like that was what everybody was talking about because I believe it was real Ferdinand said the same thing, Morinho said the same thing. More even had some like really harsh words to say about Spencer. He was like, yo, that he kind of wanted to make the whole situation about him.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, I I feel that too. I feel that too. You get what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_02Like, yeah, like he really wanted to make it about him and everything, you know. Um a lot of people, funny enough, I and I was surprised, especially because we live in this council culture era um era and everything. Yeah, I was thinking that a lot of people were gonna back him. Well, most of the people that backed him were the women, you get what I'm saying? You know, yeah, yeah, but um, I was thinking that a lot of people were gonna back him, but people didn't, you know, because because everybody looked at that thinking, yo, fam, like dude has not even been found guilty and everything. You get me? The whole he's still going through the system and all that kind of stuff. Like, why treat my man like that? Me myself, honestly speaking, I'm not a big fan of the handshake before game to start with. I've never been, yeah, I've never I I kind of feel like when it comes to competition, sports, right? Both teams should have very minimum contact or communication between both sides, right? So that you don't feel any sort of like emotional, whatever. You know what I mean? So that you once you guys see each other, it's game on, if that makes sense. I think it makes for a good competition, you know what I mean? For for like a good game, all that shaking hand, hugging each other, and all that kind of shit. Yeah, it looks good for the smoke um the sportsmanship of the game, right? But but I kind of like I'm not a big fan of it. The same way when you see like UFC fighters and they want to do the whole face-off thing and everything. You see them shaking each other, laughing, smiling, and everything. I'm not thinking, yo, fam, what are you guys doing? You know what I'm saying? Like, create that thing, create that thing of competition, if that makes sense, you know. So, but just like you said, I don't think anybody was wrong. You know, it's just that we live in an era where people just want to get just want to see people get cancelled without the court really doing their thing, and then if other people are charitable towards the person, people want to criticize them. For example, um Rice, Rice gave my man a um a hug or something, you get what I'm saying? And bro, they killed Declan Rice on social media, bro. I said, why? You get what I'm saying? Maybe some of these players know what we don't know, you know, or maybe some of them say, you know what, listen, they've not charged my man yet. He's still he's still going through the whole system. Let's see what comes out of it. You get what I'm saying? To me, that's kind of how I view, anyways.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, um, I know he's been charged, but he's not being found guilty.
SPEAKER_02Sorry, he's not being found guilty, that's what I mean.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's why he couldn't travel to Canada. But anyway, the thing is, um, I feel like a small part of me feel that Jed Spence just wanted Brownie points. He wanted to be seen as the you know um higher man in this situation, you know, and that stuff. I don't like stuff like that to an extent because you're just you're pandering, you're showboating, and you just need this. This is virtue signaling, basically. Absolutely, absolutely, and but I'm happy that the game went on, you know, it was a drab match. Again, we expected that from my guy, Carlos Kiroz. He's known for packing a bus, you know. It's the team has never bro. Team has never played fluid football, so it's not it's not a thing, you know. Yeah, as a coach myself, I would hate to play against people like Carlos Kier um Kerosh, uh Kiraj, sorry, because at the end of the day, I love entertaining football, and that brother is a party pooper, so he's gonna do whatever he needs to do. But to be fair, the thing that I found uncomfortable about all of this, I'll be honest with you, it's had nothing to do with a handshake because I feel like everyone is trying to serve themselves somehow. It's the fact that Ghanaians had the cheek to celebrate a draw. Are you guys high? Are you are you okay? I'm seeing people jump in the I'm like in the watch alongs. I'm like, what has this word become?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah. Why should they still celebrate that?
SPEAKER_01Brother, come on now. If I feel like I can beat someone and it's a draw, I'm not gonna, even though deep down, I'm happy about the draw, but in my head, I won't celebrate publicly. Come on, man.
SPEAKER_02I don't think I don't think Ghanaians believe that they could be England. I don't I don't believe it. No, no, no, no, no, they could, but I don't think they believe that they could.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. For this game, because of the players, maybe the team. Yes, I don't understand what you think.
SPEAKER_02You got what I'm saying. I don't think they believe that, which is the reason why they which is the reason why they came in and packed the bus and everything. You got what I'm saying, yeah. Like, I don't think and and also they are going into the next round, so they were probably happy about the whole thing. Oh, yeah, you got what I'm saying, yeah. But I don't think they believe that they could be England, you know. I don't see that, you know, yeah. No, but but hey, we'll see what happens in there, bro.
SPEAKER_01But they won't wait, man.
SPEAKER_02Can't wait. But but the team that I was rooting against, but for some weird reason, they've won that their last two games like South Africa. You got what I'm saying, I'll be rooting against South Africa.
SPEAKER_01Heavy, they've won. Wait, yeah, they won the last game. Yes, yes, yes, they did.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you gotta say, I've been rooting against them.
SPEAKER_01No, they're not going far, so it's not for me, don't worry. They're coming out, they're coming out soon. Bruh, those guys just had that luck. They're coming out soon. I'm not even stressing about them, yeah. Because they're not going far anyway. I'll be honest with you. Yeah, bro. So now I'm just excited to know that the real competition has started. You know, we've we've had to you know sieve out the dead fish, the weeds, the you know, all of this other craps are yeah, scraps and crap along the way. Yeah, now the real teams have emerged. Let the game begin. Let the game begin, man.
SPEAKER_02Let's see what happens with that still. I can't wait. Yeah, don't we? Nah, nah, nah, it's good, but it's good. Yeah, talking about allegations at airfield, let's let's come out of sports and all that, right? And jump into our quote unquote culture, right? Yeah, um, have you seen Odomodu back? I say Odomodu back. Odomodu black. Odomodu back, I love that Odomodu back. Yeah, have you seen Odomodu Black and everything and his tweets and everything?
SPEAKER_01Um, I've been reading it for the past couple of days.
SPEAKER_02And he even found a way and linked it to Party and Spencer as well. I'm telling you, crazy. And this came out of nowhere. This came out of nowhere. Be before we jump into reality, yeah. Let me um read it for the people that that are obviously watching. You got what I'm saying. So um he said the only difference, the only difference between Partey and Black Bones is that Partey has not gone to trial. The other man is guilty, but the Nigerian music industry decides to turn it into a rap beef. Then he started mentioning people. Um one, so at one Motulani, you are well aware that the boy is a sexual abuser. God dang. Same with Beezle, Osikoya, and the entire chocolate city music. Even Kimmy Smalls is aware, and she's a woman. It's funny to me. So when you see them do the whole women this, women that, just know is all performative. This is crazy.
SPEAKER_01I said to myself, let me get a bit of fresh air before I reply to this. Because um this is exactly what then happens, is the fact that how do I put this? Okay, because my I won't say it's my guy, I don't know him personally, but you know, he's reached out to me, we've spoken on the on the in the DMs and stuff like that. He makes it so difficult for people to root for him. I want to root for him. You know what I mean? It makes it so difficult, you know, and again, we don't know the truth, we don't know what's happening behind the scenes, we don't understand what's going on, but he makes it so difficult, bro. That he's just he just does extra stuff to it, and it's like bro, I read that yesterday, and I was like, why are you mentioning these people? These guys like my bro Motalani doesn't want to be involved in this, and you've just somehow involved him. Kemi Smalls doesn't brother, he's just bringing people into the fight. Just attack the black bones you're attacking. Leave all these people out. It seems like he needs that validation for people again, and I'm not saying whatever he's saying is not true. I'm not saying that, I'm just saying there's no reason to bring people into it that maybe don't want to be mentioned, you know. You know what I'm saying? So it's a shame, man. It's a big, big, big shame.
SPEAKER_02The way I feel about the whole thing is, yeah, I'm not gonna lie to you, bro. Yeah, the way I feel about the whole thing is first of all, it is wild to come online and start labeling somebody a rapist, right? What happened to going to the law? You know what I'm saying? Like when you really deep it, you're coming online, calling this guy an abuser, calling this guy a rapist, and everything. I hope you have some sort of evidence. You know what I'm saying? That's defamation, yeah, like like it's a proper. One. So I've I hope he has some form of evidence to back this up. Because if he doesn't and he's here saying, I would say personally, Blackbones should sue him. If Blackbones is sure that he didn't do anything, because if the Nigerian system is working and all that, then the ball of them will not have to sit down and do um what is called um what's the word I'm looking for? I've forgotten the name of it, but but you gotta sit down and then they're gonna ask you questions. Oh, you mean like detects the test? No, no, no, no, no, not even that. You get me? I've gotten the word and everything, yeah.
SPEAKER_01But you like interrogation, yeah, something like that.
SPEAKER_02But but they're gonna like dig deep and everything, you get what I'm saying? Like, you know, so I think I hope he has some sort of evidence because this is wild in itself. You get what I'm saying? I don't wanna I see people calling him a snitch, I see people calling him a rat or whatever the case is. If he's 100% sure and he has the facts to back it up, right? I personally think, okay, cool, you know, he's doing the right thing, you know, because I I don't think abusers and rapists should be walking around us. But bro, if you're just doing this because you are you don't like the guy or because you guys go beef or whatever the case is, I think this is nasty, bro. You get what I'm saying? And anyone who's peddling in this kind of defamation of character should be cancelled. I don't think someone someone that is doing this should have anything to do in the industry. That's my opinion.
SPEAKER_01I uh I can't disagree with you on this one in that sense. But for me, I just feel like once you come out and say this person did this once, twice, maybe max three times. Now it's a it's it's up to the law. But when you keep hammering on it, it's like you you just want to love people in your crusade. And then when people join your bandwagon, it becomes very like you're just like attacking this person, so much so that it gets to a stage where everyone else now, like, you know what, flip this man. You've been attacking this guy, no real evidence. We're gonna go and support that guy. Now, I'm not saying I'm doing that, I'm saying that's how it's come across. I've seen a lot of people, you know, um somehow say things similar to that. And like I said, I woke up this morning, which is interesting, or should I say interestingly, I woke up this morning, obviously I can't say the person's name, and I've gone my DM, they're like, Do you know what happened between Udimodo and Blackbones? In my head, I was so confused. I was like, I think I I I now responded with what I think it is, and the person's went, hmm, it is well. But this is what I'm saying, the industry is just hilarious. Like, first of all, that message is like so random. I I don't tweet about that, I don't care about it that much, to be honest. But to just get that is because I don't know, maybe someone saw my tweet from a couple of days when I said the industry is full of maniacs, and then it's just gone with that, you know. So, but it's just interesting, it's just very interesting.
SPEAKER_02The thing about this is right, the way he's going about it really screams of a bad fate sort of crusade, right? Yeah, like like you're doing it not because you believe in in whatever you are pushing, but just because you just want to see this guy fall, you get what I'm saying? Like that's how it comes across because a lady replied him, what one of the people that he mentioned, yeah. KG Small, she did yeah, say yo, what the fuck do I have to do with this today? Like we spoke behind the scenes and everything, yeah. And then another woman now came out and said that um I'm trying to find the tweet back, but but I can't find it no more. She even accused or demoed black of rolling with another guy who has been accused of rape, type thing. You know what I'm saying? So I mean, yeah. So when situations like this happen, people like myself will always question, what are the motives? What is your motive of doing this? And do you know, to be honest with you, that's part of reason why I never really rocked with 50 Cent like that. Phil says a very good example. I never really rocked with him right like that when it came to the whole Didi thing. You get what I'm saying? Not saying that Diddy was right, not saying that that um that Didi did not do anything wrong, he absolutely did. You know what I'm saying? But the way I saw it, 50 Cents crusade against Didi was bad fake. You go, I mean, it wasn't because of he believed in whatever it is that he was accusing him of, you go I'm saying it's just that I don't really like this guy, so I'm gonna use this, I'm gonna use this and attack you, if that makes sense. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01So it's nothing of where we are calling this guy out for being a bad person, it's just the fact that I don't like him. So it's basically your hate over morality.
SPEAKER_02That's it, that's it, yeah, that's it. You got me, and to me, that's how I view this whole thing with um Odamo the Black. You got what I'm saying, yeah. But hey, if he has the evidence, if he has the facts about this whole thing, listen, by all means, by all means, bring it out there, go to the law, say, yo, this is what I've got on this guy. You know what I mean? I see I see people calling him rat and snatched or whatever, uh, you know, to ease their own.
SPEAKER_01Unfortunately, he's in a space where it's not structured, that's not gonna happen, bro. Let's be real. Like, there's a lot of things that are just not up to standard. So I can understand why he feels like, you know what, I need to do the public outcry and you know, put him in the public call for opinions, and that way it's easier. I get why, because you know, system that don't work properly, uh actually it barely works, not even work properly. Work properly means sometimes it works, this doesn't work at all. So, of course, you're gonna use every medium you've got to put this person to shame or bring them to book, and it's a shame, man. It's a big shame, but it's just something that's been dragging for too long. They're dragging for too long, bro. Yeah, bro.
SPEAKER_02It's yeah, it's just been dragging for too long. I don't think I think I think I think at this point, if the ball of them cannot settle their problems or whatever, they should just stop talking about each other. That's it. Facts, facts, you go. I mean, they should just stop talking about each other.
SPEAKER_01I know I heard um Blackbones replied and did say um he's taking it to court, so as he should, as he should, absolutely, as he should.
SPEAKER_02You got what I'm saying, as he should. I I 100% agree that.
SPEAKER_01But it's wild though. How is the I'm not saying anyone is perfect, but how is how are people citizens running to a group of people that we can't even trust, anyway, to judge them on bad behavior. Can you imagine? It's like you run into a criminal to judge a case of you as a criminal. It's wild, bro. It's wild.
SPEAKER_02That's funny if you bro. You know, it's a it's a very interesting one still, but we'll see what happens with that, bro. Yeah, you get me. But on some positive note, my guy. I didn't even know that this show was happening, bruv. Ashake, um, he's Spotify show in London. Um I didn't know that show was going on.
SPEAKER_01I feel like I had an inkling, but I wasn't that bothered. Is it? But yeah, you're right. I'll I would I would go with the fact that 8020, 80% of a shock, 20% expected. So I think I'll lean towards what you're saying.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think I think um I think it was more industry, and then the the fans that are really tapped in.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you get what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_02Because because a lot of industry people were there. Um a couple of people that I know were there and everything, and then some people, I don't know obviously how they got the tickets and everything, but but they went but I but I honestly didn't hear about it at all, or maybe I heard and I forgot by it and everything, you know, yeah. But bro, I was watching that shit. Yeah, top stuff. I was watching that shit. I said, if you asked me today, stage performance, Afro B artists rated today, yeah, slowly ashake is coming into top three, top four for me, bruv. When when it comes to when it comes to stage performance, I'm so happy that he got me, but we've recorded a few episodes. No, but he came into that for me from his symphony um concert.
SPEAKER_01I remember because we've had this conversation, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the symphony concert, and I'm not surprised, and I'm not surprised that since that symphony concert, yeah, he has he has used that same formula of the orchestras and all that kind of stuff, right? Going forward and everything. You know what I'm saying? I'm not surprised because I believe that he probably watched that shit and and he found bro, this is beautiful. You know what I'm saying? He's a performer, so fair enough.
SPEAKER_01But I'm just happy that finally I think one of the episodes I did say that yeah, Asaka is definitely uh one of the greatest performers at the moment, especially amongst the guys alive or doing their top three, top ten.
SPEAKER_02Nah, I don't think it's up there yet, bro. I I don't think he's he's one of the greatest. That's that that's a bit of a that's too that's too much. Remember, one of the greatest.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no. Again, my opinion. Yeah, when someone says one of the greatest, we can have 20,000 people that are greatest.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no, that's no, no, no, no, no. That's not how it works, bro.
SPEAKER_01That's how it works.
SPEAKER_02That's that's not that's not no, that's how it works.
SPEAKER_01How is the English language one off something?
SPEAKER_02One of the great wait, wait, wait, one of the greatest, right? And then for me, and then in the same for you, and then in the same bracket, and then in the same bracket, you say you can have 20,000 great. Come on, bro.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no, no. I was explaining the meaning of one off just for the people, not for you, but the people watching that don't understand. When someone says one off, you could have, yeah, it's like you having 20,000 air forces, and someone says, What which one is your favorite? You'll be like, Oh, one of the ones that have like a red label in it. There's so many other ones that have similar color or whatever it is, but you're being specific. So it's all semantics, bro.
SPEAKER_02But go on, it's it's all semantics, bro. It's all semantics.
SPEAKER_01One of the greatest is this is for me, anyway. Facts for me, not for anyone else, anyone can disagree. One of the greatest, man. Yeah, one of that. I mean, I'm I mean we can we can go through the we can go through the lineup.
SPEAKER_02Okay, okay, okay. Let's do that. Let's go through the lineup.
SPEAKER_01The artist, no, I'm talking about the performances he's had. You know, his NPR tick did well. Symphony tick did well. His concerts have been to tick, it did well. This Spotify tick, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, but these are the yeah, which goes back to my point as well. These are like the latest ones that he's actually done. The MPR was a couple months ago. You got what I'm saying, yeah. It's it's a couple months ago. Honestly speaking, honestly speaking, now you might feel different. I'm not saying cool. How you feel is how you feel, yeah. His last O2 one, yeah, the one at the O2, the last one. Yeah, honestly, yeah. Honestly, to me, it wasn't all that, it was just this. You got what I mean. Yeah, it was just this and I was watching it, you know. I was like, okay, cool. I honestly think Stadium.
SPEAKER_01I'm sorry, stadium, you know. Were you in were you in the arena or did you watch it live?
SPEAKER_02Live. I was watching live.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But yep, yeah, but the thing about me is I've got a very good when when it comes to live performances, right? I've got a very, very, very, very good instincts when it comes to that. You got what I'm saying? Like, and hey, I'm a nobody. Cool, I'm just Toby. But I know what I'm looking at. You get what I'm saying? And when I look at and when I look at it, when I looked at it, I was like, you could tell it's still a diamond in the rough. If that makes sense, like he's still working his way through it. You get me? He's still working his way through it because I've I believe that was like his first time at the O2, you know? So he's still, yeah. He's still walking his way through it. Yeah, it was the first one because because his first one was the O2 Academy. Yeah, no, no, no. That's what I'm saying. The O2 Arena.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. You get what I'm saying? Yeah, so I can just say it's live energy is different from watching it live on the phone or on the laptop on TV. That's facts. That's just that's something I've realized over the years, going to concerts or watching media.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I know what you're saying, yeah. But when I look at Kanye West, for example, right? This recent tour that he's done, I can feel the difference between the first one, the first one that he did, and and this one right now, the one that he is. I believe he's doing one in Miami tonight or tomorrow. You get what I'm saying? I can tell the difference. You get what I'm saying? When I look at Asha K, and it's okay, like he's a relatively new artist, right? Being on that big stage, the auto arena, for the first time ever in his career, and everything. It's okay to say, yo, he was working through things, you get me? Like, you you can see the the flashes of greatness on there. You can see the flashes of greatness, but I think look just looking at him, watching him, and watching the Red Bull orchestra, the one that he did, I I feel like he stepped into a zone where he is very comfortable now, like he knows what to do, he knows how to move, he knows how to command the crowd, and everything like he's in that zone right now. You can tell. You get me, and I feel like, and people might disagree with me, I feel like that kick started from that symphonic Red Bull thing. Whatever he's doing with the composers is working. Fair, fair, fair. Whatever he's doing with the composers is working, which makes me wonder why, because he's not the only person that is using composers, but I think his team, him, and them, they have tapped into something that I feel like they are looking like the outsiders now, their version of the outsiders, if that makes sense. No, I get you, I get you. You get what I'm saying? But you know, I just watched that shit. I was like, yo, this is gonna. For the first time, I said, you know what, I probably will go and watch him, his next concert. Yeah, for the first time I said I probably will go watch him, you know, because I I kind of love yeah, I kind of love what I'm seeing. And I'm not a big concert goer, but I think I think he's doing it for me now, where where I'm I will go and watch him. Yeah, and and then they they obviously just made an announcement that um they are gonna be dropping next month the live rendition album of the money album. Yeah, they will be here, we'll be here.
SPEAKER_01We're gonna hear it. We're gonna hear it. Is he the first Afrobeat artist to do that?
SPEAKER_02Um is he to drop an album of live renditions? To drop your album, and then you say, you know what, I'm gonna drop a live rendition of that album.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, with the modern Afrobeat artist, yes, he would definitely be first. But if we're talking about in the Nigerian music industry, no, because you have your you know, what's your inde, you have your Pasuma that's yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh obviously, yeah, yeah. They themselves do that and everything, but like in the modern, yeah, yeah, yeah. And yeah, I personally would say that, yeah, should be the first.
SPEAKER_02Bro, listen. No, no, no. Listen, the the way my man is moving right now, looking beautiful.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's what means when you have a team around you. I mean, it's no cloud chasing, no sitting with any random live streamer, just let your music do the work, mate. Here we go. Here we go.
SPEAKER_02Hey, I said something. No, no, you did not. No, you did not. No, you did not. Just taking the temperature. And you know what? We we might as well just jump into that. But before we do, um, obviously, this this live rendition album, there's gonna be five additional tracks in it. Namely, um, the king's intro, psycho, acco, bad boy, and ego. Is it ego or ego? I don't know. Could be ego, ego, ego, ego. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And those and those are produced by the by the composers. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You go saying, but that should be fun. That should be fun. You know, bro, let's talk about the streamers then.
SPEAKER_01There's nothing much to talk about, to be fair. Let's talk about the streamers then. Yeah, I think the most the conversation really is around. I think it's around YC. And interestingly, last episode I wanted to bring up YC, and now it's I wish I did actually. But yeah, um, yeah, I mean, YC was on Afropolitan podcast, and he did say should we play the video?
SPEAKER_02Let's play video. Yeah, let's play video so that people will know exactly what we're talking about. Yeah, cool. Cool.
SPEAKER_00This Olodo uprising that we even have right now. Olodo uprising, yeah, bro. It's it's terrible. I promise you. It's like we are trying so much to accommodate unintelligent people and ignorant people because we don't want them to feel bad and all these things. So now they're now like the majority. There's a massive attack on the educational system in Nigeria, bro. Aside from like the kidnapping and the Boko Haram, which is like, bro, those guys are literally going at that nerve center. Other factors, you know, leadership not prioritizing things that are important, the society not celebrating academic excellence. People don't even want to go to school anymore. Like, it's just like why it's not even just Yahoo culture. Now we have Pella culture, you know. So if we keep rewarding all these guys, like oh, people see that you just have to just do dumb, crazy shit, just go online, you know, maybe do some obscene whatever, and you get clicks, you get numbers, like that's what moves the needle in Nigeria. Then what are you telling, you know, the rest of the impressionable young people out there? No shade to Pella. I have nothing against do personally, like, bro, get your coins by any means, but you know, at the end of the day, if that thing is only going to be sustainable for a period of time, yeah, bro.
SPEAKER_02So, what do you think about the whole thing?
SPEAKER_01Well, to be honest, he's got a point, and over the last couple of days, all I've seen on X, as usual, is people again, lack of comprehension, not understanding exactly what he's saying. When people speak, there's nuance, excuse me, and there's context. When he said Olodo Uprising, he's not saying uh academically, we're not talking about academics, not academia, we're not talking about that. We're talking about positive influences that uh kids uh over time or people around you could you know be influenced in the right way, you can build another generation of very much intellectual people. Because the truth is, live streamers, you already know what they have to do, they have to be exaggerate. Listen, live streamers have to be hyperbolic. You need to be hyperbolic, like like you really need to exaggerate everything, you know. And I'm not I'm not a massive fan of all of that. You can exaggerate a little bit, but not too much, and it becomes a big gimmicky, caricature, and all of that. So what he's talking about is the fact that and it's true, we don't have a lot education is not the priority in the society anymore. It's people are like they know jobs, again, which ties back to poor government, you know. But the fact is he's talking about the fact that a lot of people can't by by any means Have a very good intellectual conversation. And he's right. Because everything people are doing is to create shock value. It's all just shock value, shock value, shock value. So when he said a low door pricing, don't mean like, oh, people didn't go to school. So I'm seeing people tell me, tagging me saying um Kata Ife graduated. Okay. Bro, I've got a psychological degree. I'll graduate too. I don't go around telling people whatever it is, you know. Like Tobes as well has got his own degree. The point is, we again, I'm not saying we are good influences, so don't anyone know me making it look like I'm saying, oh, we're perfect. No. But I guarantee I can show this to my child, for instance. You know, I'm not I'm not being extreme with anything, I'm not having to embarrass myself to entertain people. Like, and I get that's where YC is coming from. You know, he's coming from a place of the fact that we're now in an era where people are doing extreme stuff, portable doing the boxing match, uh Katahefe screaming on people, embarrassing themselves, insulting, like everything just to be entertaining. It's like it's not the greatest look for society, especially for a group of people that really want to advance or move ahead. So that's what I think it is, and I agree with him to an extent, but this is where I disagree, and I think YC contradicted himself. Him saying this, he needs to remember because he used Pela as a reference point, he needs to understand that he was on KTF's live. So technically, you enable you, YC, you're an enabler, you're enabling the Olodo Uprising, you're enabling it as well.
SPEAKER_02Which is the reason why, which is which is the reason why it was so hilarious that he mentioned Pela and not Kate FA. Because if you ask me to rank the craziness between the ball of them, Kate Fe is way more crazier than Pilla.
SPEAKER_01It's not no no no the reason why he used Pella is because Pella is the first known African decided live thing.
SPEAKER_02The whole streaming thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The whole streaming thing. I get that narrow thing. You got what I'm saying, and I see a lot of people saying that he should not have mentioned his name. Fuck that. I think I think he he he had the right to mention whoever's name he wanted to mention. You know what I'm saying? I think there should be no restriction when it comes to that, but then the way I viewed the whole thing is don't hate the player, hate the game. You should not hate the player, hate the game. These kids were smart enough, and they are smart, because if they are not, yeah, everybody will be doing what they're doing. And and I don't want to hear people say, oh no, I don't want to be acting like that on social media. Ballocks. You got what I'm saying? Them kids were smart enough to tap into something, whether you call it the dysfunction, whether you call it the the craziness of that society, you know what I'm saying? They know what society wanted and they tapped into it, and for a society that only cares about money, like the world is like this, the world is like this, yeah? Nigeria is like this. You get me? Like the educated people have been pushed to the back. This is a country where doctors, teachers, lawyers, civil servants are get they are getting paid penals. So why would any of these kids want to be like them? You get my point? Because they have looked at it, going to uni and everything, it's not rewarding. I go to uni, I come out, I'm not gonna be able to get a job. Now, let's say I get a job and everything, how much am I gonna be taking home? 700k. 700k in like in pounds like 70 pounds, I think, or 100 pounds, I don't know. You know what I'm saying? So there is no incentive to go down that route, and then they now look, they look abroad, they see the likes of speed, they see the likes of Kaisina, they see what they're doing and everything. Oh, you know what? I'm gonna take that and replicate that in Nigeria. Hella started, everybody saw that it was working, everybody else jumped on it, and then you these guys criticizing them, but what of the older gentlemen that are old enough to be their parents that are giving them cars, giving them hundred thousand naira, fifty million, twenty million, all that kind of shit. You know what I mean? Why why would the kids stop? I hear what he's trying to say, the whole Olodo upraise and everything, but these kids are just the after-effects of the society, you know what I'm saying? So I think we can't look at the kids, we gotta look at uh the society and see that these kids are just the symptoms of what the society produces. You know what I'm saying? And to me, it is what it is. He called out who he wanted to call out and everything, but but if you ask me, Katefe is way worse than Pillar. Way worse, and I and I enjoy his content sometimes. I'm not I'm not gonna sit here and say that I'll say something and I'll be like, yo, I I watch him, you know, he's hilarious to me sometimes and everything. Would I be doing what he's doing? No, I'm not gonna do that. You got what I mean? Some of the things that that that he does, do I think it's a bit off putting? Yeah, it is. But but we have to look at the reason why people are rewarding that heavily, overly in Nigeria. You know what I'm saying? You know, and why she's and and what Wise is not wrong in his assessment, it's not wrong. Because the other time, I saw an article online, yeah. They they did an IQ test in Nigeria, in Lagos. They did an IQ test and everything. And they came to the result that that they came to is about 50% of the people that participated in that IQ test have an IQ below 70%. Imagine that. You know what I'm saying? They have an IQ below 70%. Jam, you you you remember jamb and everything? Yeah, yeah. Jamb back in the day was 250. Cut off mark. It has been dropped down to 150 now. What does that tell you? The educational system is in the gutter. You know what I'm saying? So these kids, they are smart enough to tap into something that is very dysfunctional in that society, but this society that does not care about what you're doing as long as you have money. That's it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's fair, that's fair.
SPEAKER_02And and and that's on both sides. The women, most of them are escorts, they don't give a shit. Yeah, coming out talking about it. You get me? The main the main alleged escort, whatever her name is, bro. If you say anything remotely negative about her on social media, the women will come for you. She has a whole army out there. Oh you or yeah, you're hating on her, you're hating on your, you know, be you know, because she has more money than you. Everything around there is about money, bro.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but uh for me, yeah. Of course, we know that, you know, and unfortunately, that's the reality there, and that's the reality in most parts of the world, anyway. But the truth is, again, about the or obviously in conclusion for me, anyway. Um, the Olodo uprising is just very much like with the whole Pella thing, you know, um Pella canostring, I would say sentences together, two sentences together, yeah, yeah, yeah. So for him, it's like those should those people shouldn't be the ones that we push in front of the society to represent us, and I get that's where he's coming from.
SPEAKER_02Do you do you think do you think let me ask you, do you think that's done purposely? Do you think do you think that the powers that be are purposely pushing this set of people or the rather this type of people to the front?
SPEAKER_01To be to be honest with you, I know I don't like this. If I say yes, that's me giving credit for them thinking smart. No, there's no powers that be. I don't know why people think there's powers. No, it's just it's just a microcosm of what the society looks like.
SPEAKER_02That's the reason why I ask that is, right? The reason why as that is because you always hear like black Americans sometimes saying that oh, you know, the white man controls the media and everything. That's the reason why it looks like the black community, you know, when you think about the black community, it's always crime and that.
SPEAKER_01So I just ask the question from America that's believable because at least we know them with their own CIA, everything is well calculated. You know, everything they want to do is win, win, win. We get it. With the Nigerian government, they're not that smart. These people are a bunch of yeah, they're not that smart. So if we say, Oh, the the people are doing on purpose, it's definitely we're giving them credit for something they're really not good at. You know, this is just a clear case of again, Nigerians love to copy things in the Western world. Uh, you know, luckily for Pella, he figured out that okay, TikTok, you can go live, do your thing, act a certain way, and people buy into it. Because again, like they say, the average age for the for the Nigerian, for the the average age in Nigeria is 18 years old. So that's crazy. That means it's a very young population. So of course the young population, well, they don't have much going, they don't have money, they don't have a job, you know. So when they're online, they need things to like distract them, yeah, while away time. So it's easy for you to fall in love. I remember the people that are falling in love with his content are people that let's say, for instance, can't even really speak a certain language, let's say the English, right? So now they're seeing someone doing it live that they can relate to. They're like, Yes, finally, I'm not in this by myself. So there's just a lot of factors that contribute to it. But again, shout to everyone involved. For me personally, that's what I was trying to say. It's like there's context and nuance to it, it's not just attacking the guy, it's not, it's not just basically based on um what's it called? On um academics, it's not, but yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's crazy, it's crazy. But at the end of the day, right? I can't really fault these kids because some of your biggest artists are going on their platforms. You know what I mean? Some of your biggest artists are going on their platforms and everything. You know what I'm saying? You know, which which at the end of the day, I can't, I can't, bro. You can't hate on them. You can't hate. They are finding way. I personally, personally, I'd rather they do this than that than go in into crime.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. I listen, if we have those options, of course, we'll go for it. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_02Because if you if you really think about it, yeah, because if you really think about it, what other options do they really have it over there?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's true. That's true. Well, for anyone, man, as long as you're not killing, you know, you know, there you go, taking money away from people. I guess do your thing. But again, for me, I was just wanting to address that Olodo uprising, yeah. The phrase and understanding that there's nuance to everything, there's context, you know. You know, again, unfortunately, we're having to deal with the same people that that Olodo uprising actually refers to. Yeah, there's a bunch of them on the online, they're just going back and forth over nothing. But hey, that's that's what it is, man.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, bro. This is crazy, though. This is crazy. But listen, shout out them though, shout out to all of them. All of them are doing shit for themselves and everything, bro. You can't, you can't like you can't even hate on them and everything, bro. You get me. I agree, I agree, yeah, bro. Fam, another um, another topic that made or rather that created the fire stomp on the internet with James Blake. Nobody saw this one, bro. No one saw this one coming, bro.
SPEAKER_01You know what? Can I be honest? I think I've seen James Blake, he's written something similar, not that exact thing, yeah. He said something similar before, yeah. So it's not a shock to see him write that again.
SPEAKER_02Ride, ride again, NV.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. I always have a take on people like that. It's like when things are going really well for you, you're not gonna come here and text us nothing. When things are a bit wonky, and you start to tell us all of this stuff.
SPEAKER_02Now you want to be a crusader, yeah?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's a win-win for anyone, man, involved, I guess.
SPEAKER_02Okay, let me let me read out what my man said. All right, cool. He said, Um, excuse me, can't trust the review because blogs, magazines, stopped, because blogs or magazines stopped making money, so journalists now get paid off by labels. Can't trust the comment session because it's full of fake fan accounts saying, Oh my god, their voice to create bandwagon effect um effects. Can't trust YouTube numbers because labels buy them. Can't trust streaming numbers because labels pay for bot farms to drive discovery. Can't even trust that a song was made by human beings. If you're an artist, remember that in 2026 there's not a single part of the system that isn't faked. You are probably doing better than you think.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I love that projection still. I like that. Yeah, he wrote all of that on how he feels, and that was a little letter to himself. Trust me. You see the last the last sentence there is all for himself. You know, he's talking to himself like he shouldn't, you know. Nah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Do you really think he's talking to himself though? Because he's doing great, bro. Because when I saw this, yeah, I went back and said, let me check what my man is averaging monthly on um monthly listeners on Spotify and everything, bro. Seven million monthly listeners. But he just told us it's all fake, so you know what?
SPEAKER_01Hey, there you go. Hey, yeah, it applies to you, man. Hey, you know, you gotta say, I've a fake the microscope is on him, so yeah, bro.
SPEAKER_02I think it's one of them things, right? Because Jay-Z does the same thing too, and everything. I think these people, you know, people like him, people like um Russell. Um I think they enjoy the system until they stop enjoying the system, if that makes sense. Yeah, when it doesn't work for them. You get me, or when well, I say when it doesn't work for them and everything, I think they are still in the system. For example, Jay-Z, for example, he says all those things that he says and everything, yeah. But you can tell he's still pretty much in the system because Billboard came out. The the concert that he did with with the roots, the root picnic, and everything. They say, Yeah, oh, that that's the best, whatever, whatever of 2026. Come on now. You get me? I love Jay Zelda Ness, man, but come on now. You get me? But you get me, but but that's my point. You know, he is he's doing his 30 years thing right now, you know. Um, Apple Music is involved in it. So, like these people are pretty much embedded in the system, but I think as they get older, start putting things into perspective, yeah, right, they're probably tired of the politics of the whole thing. So they feel that it's on them to give the young artist coming up some game and everything. Because everything that he said is true, bro. When you look at the streaming numbers, when you look at all this shit, my whole thing about it is if it was created by a man or by a human being, it can be manipulated by a human being, bruv.
SPEAKER_01You know what I mean? They're not giving anyone no game, bro. Giving someone game is something that no one knows about. So if I come to you now and say you do realize you see now that's really hot, yeah, top, yeah, all you have to do is take ice and and and put it in the fan and start to say crazy stuff that you've never in your life heard. Like pretty much no one has ever heard. For instance, when the first guy that came up with the idea of an iPhone started to tell you 30 years ago, you know what, in 30 years' time, I'm gonna create a phone that you can do. You'd be like, huh? Yeah, that's game, bro. A lot of these things they're saying, we all know this.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no, no, no, no, no. You you know about it. Obviously, I know about it and everything, yeah. But you best believe it. Yeah, I think it is really good that someone like James Blake is coming out to tweet what he tweeted because there are a lot of people out here, even in our culture, yeah, that when you say anything about their idolo, they say, Oh, like he he did this, this, this, this views on YouTube, he did this, this, this, this, this on Spotify, he did that. You get what I mean? Like, they will bombard you with numbers and streaming numbers and everything.
SPEAKER_01Like a lot of people just do you think they know that's the only metric, yeah. They still know, bro. These things when you start to uh when you start to listen to dumb people, you start to realize that dumb people are actually not that dumb by choice, they're just not dumb by choice, they just they're just naturally dumb because the thing is you know that this is not working, but you still pretend like it's working, then something is wrong with you. Clearly, you you need help, right? So everyone knows that, right, they're streaming from, but people don't care at the end of the day because for them it's about what we can see again. That that's what so if James Blake comes out now. Again, he like you said, you're probably right. There's some people that okay, let's say older people that don't know nothing about numbers game or whatever it is, then yeah, you can be explaining this to them, but as long as you're active in social media, bro, you know all of this is happening, man.
SPEAKER_02Come on, you know, you know, but it's just James Blake had to do what he had to do because I think I think yeah, I think um even in our culture, artists, Benson, for example. Some people have come out talk about like fan bots and all that kind of stuff. You know what I mean? That that's like shitless of it happening, yeah.
SPEAKER_01You can say like it's there to push enhance. Even Drake benefited from bots.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, all of them did.
SPEAKER_01And you know what?
SPEAKER_02Do you know what the funny thing is, right? Drake's money is so funny because Drake's fans, just like the Afro B fans and everything, they are so quick to tell you about his numbers, but then when he when the battle was not going his way, he now said that Kendrick's numbers are fake. So, fam, which one is it? It's a Drake guy, man. He got me. Like, like which one is it? You know, so so it's just one of them funny ones and everything. People use this metrics and everything when it suits them, and when it doesn't suit them, somebody wants to come out and preach and everything. And yep, and I don't fault him for coming out to say this because when someone like him comes out and says something like this, it does carry weight, you know, because you can't call him a hater. You get me? He's a legend. Why can't you call why can't you call him a hater? Nah, I don't think it's hating because he's still he's still out here killing it.
SPEAKER_01But that's that's what's funny about human beings. They think once you get to a level, there's something beneath you. That's not true. No, this guy must bruh. I can't put nothing past any human being, bro. Even the Jay-Z that uh we all love and rate, he's he's probably hating on someone. Well, we know who he's hating on anyway, but I'll just make it I'll generalize. I don't know who is aiming, bro.
SPEAKER_02I don't know who is AM. Excuse me, I don't know. I don't know who he's aiming, bro. You got me. That's all you, bro. I don't think that Jay's is out here hating on nobody, bruv. You you think it's a crazy bruv. Okay, you know, but yeah, man. Nah, nah. Listen, at the end of the day, I like what he said at the end and everything, bro. Fam, you are better than what you think you are, man. Just because you're not gonna have numbers in everything, bro. Yeah, just keep on doing your thing and everything. You guys say, fam, for real, we skid new album coming soon. Wise kid, wise kid.
SPEAKER_01Let's go. Um, I'm um, should I say I'm excited? Should I say I'm not excited? I'll be honest with you guys. Because the Afrobeat scene is very monotone, one direction, very vertical. I don't I'm not excited anymore. When it's out, I'll be excited. But for now, I'll just hope and wait. I'll hope and wait.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah. I just kind of feel like this whole thing is a bit weird. The way he's going about this whole album thing. I'm talking about Whisked, it's a bit weird and everything. You got what I'm saying? Because randomly he tweeted um new album or something like that, right? And then a couple days later, my man is in Paris in some club. They say it's a pre-album release party.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, I saw that nonsense, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But all the songs that was being performed were his old songs.
SPEAKER_01No, but that's not true. It wasn't a pre-album, whatever, whatever. That's what they were tweeting, isn't it? Yeah, these bloggers need to make money. The actual video don't correspond or don't correlate with the caption with the whole thing and everything.
SPEAKER_02So so yeah, so I saw some of the the um post and everything. I clicked on it trying to hear something new and everything, bro. I didn't even hear nothing new. I was like thinking, wait, what kind of pre-album inspired is this? You get what I'm saying? But then um, doing one one of the whole performance and everything, he he now talked about the title of the album sexy. You get what I'm saying? The first thing that came to my mind was what kind of title is that? Like, can we be creative a little bit here, bruv? Ah bruh. You get what I'm saying? Like this is this is the the this is the um Yeah, I'm saying like can we be creative a little bit, bruv? Can we can we actually think and come up with a proper name? What what do we mean by sexy? What's that? You get me? Like, this is not the 90s or something.
SPEAKER_01Well, it will work well for his um people, in it. So bro, it's all about the guys that care about it, to be honest. There's a Afrobeat fatigue. That's what I'm suffering from right now. Afrobeat fatigue. If you like, you can call it egg. That's up to him. It's up to him if you want to call it egg. If you like, call it bones, do do whatever. Yeah, as long as the song bangs or the songs bang, I'm happy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but I don't know how I feel about that title, sexy. I don't know about how I feel about that.
SPEAKER_01You're talking about an Afro-beat artist, right? That they don't they don't have their fans that much at heart when they're coming up with these things, they're lazy, they're bro. They know you're gonna eat whatever it is. That's what I'm saying. This is the laziness we're talking about. No effort, what's lazy and what's sexy?
SPEAKER_02But do you think whiskey today is thinking about Afrobeat fans though? Like when he's in the album mode, creating an album, you know, all that sort of. I don't really think I might be wrong and everything.
SPEAKER_01I'm talking about outside Nigeria, by the way. Yeah, and including Nigeria. I have to call them Afrobeat fans because that's just a general term, right? It's not making music for the average Nigerian person. Come on, man.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so yeah, yeah. So if if that's the case in everything, I honestly think that the way he's going about the promotion of this, and I know it's still early days. In the uh, I don't know how I feel about it and everything. And then and then him talking about the title of the album is sexy.
SPEAKER_01Like, okay, yeah, for a big for big man like that, you can't be calling it.
SPEAKER_02You get what I'm saying? Like, like, bro, you're a big man and everything. Like, come up with a proper, proper name and everything, like dig deep and everything. Come up with something more creative and all that. You get me?
SPEAKER_01Like, but then again, if that's what his heart tells him, I guess then it is what it is, isn't it? Yeah, but I I hope it's a good album to be honest. I do hope. Yeah, I do hope because it's at that stage now where he has nothing to prove. So I hope that don't affect his um.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. People always say that whiskey has nothing to prove. I don't know. I don't know why you guys say that.
SPEAKER_01No, no, why you guys me saying he has nothing to prove, bro. Why? Like, why do you really think like that? Is he is he an upcoming artist?
SPEAKER_02Okay, no, he's not.
SPEAKER_01Okay, how long has he been in the scene for?
SPEAKER_02He's been in the scene like over a decade.
SPEAKER_01Okay, there you go. So he's technically not technically, he's one of the faces, major faces of the scene. Okay, he has nothing to prove to anyone. All right, JZ has nothing to prove to anyone.
SPEAKER_02Do you know what? You you just you just mentioned something right now because I I was about I'm about to ask you that question right now. When you think about the likes of Whiskey and everything, where do you place them? Do you place them on the same level? Do you judge yeah, their careers, their catalogs, and everything on the same level as a Drake, Jay-Z, all them people, or are you talking about he has nothing to prove from an Afro-B perspective?
SPEAKER_01It's bro, that's all it is from an Afro-B perspective. Okay, cool to Jay Z. Okay, cool.
SPEAKER_02No, yeah, they're saying no, I'm not even talking about lyrically, I'm talking about achievements and everything. If you're comparing it, if you're talking about based on Afro-B perspective, I'll give you that. He has nothing to prove on that. But what I don't like about this whole thing is people flip it whenever they feel comfortable, right? They flip it and say, Yo, yo, these people are pop stars, and this and that and that. Because once you give me that, once you give me the whole pop star talk and all that stuff, now I'll have to judge it, judge them based on the the guys on the big stage. And when you judge them based on the guys on the big stage, I love Wiz Kid, I love Davido, I love Bonner Boy, I love Rema, I love Ashake, Thames, all them people. I love them, but listen, they have not even scratched the surface.
SPEAKER_01But that's facts, bro. So whenever we're talking about what I'm saying, they have not comparing them to Chris Brown, Jay-Z, Drake, exactly, exactly what any sane person would do.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. So we have to know what measurements that we are using. You know what I'm saying? You know, because when I see people talk about the whole thing, they are pops and everything. I kind of look at that, bro. What are we even talking about? Now I'm in the Afro-bean scene. Yeah, then now in the Afro-bean scene, yes, they have nothing to prove.
SPEAKER_01I give you that. Yeah, yeah, but those people are just doing that thing. You know, these guys are cult members, bro. These so-called fans, they're not fans or stands, they are cult members, so they will do anything to prove a point. But at the end of the day, you hear someone say, Ah, whiskey is my Michael Jackson. First of all, never ever do that. Uh you can say whiskey this year's something, but don't ever say Michael Jackson, you know what I mean? And by the way, I'm a fan of whiskey's song, so it's not like I'm even taking a dig at him, but it's just that um for the little bubble we've created for ourselves as Africans or the Afrobeats or the modern music, modern Afro African music, I feel like we've done well in a sense. No, no, no, no, we we've done great. We've done great, we've done great. But the problem there is I feel like we've not done enough in introducing our culture to the world. Every other thing has helped us push the culture to the world, but not our music that much. Because instead of us, so we are introducing ourselves to the people we want to look like, but dressed as them. So there's nothing significant that they can learn from. Forget Angel Angeli Kijo and all this other real African music, African sound, and all that stuff. But I'm talking about the guys that are the ones that are like the core artists that have the youth behind them. I've not seen one person that's actually gone out of Nigeria to introduce our culture.
SPEAKER_02Bro, I think, bro, I think that that ship has sailed, bruv.
SPEAKER_01No, no, I know. That's what I'm saying. It's a shame that within that period, or well, the period is over, kind of, but let's just imagine the period is still on. No one has actually taken the mantle and say, yo, guys, this is what it is on our culture. You see, the way everyone is bought into the American culture, because they never change themselves for anyone, they don't dumb themselves down. There's them, there's them. So the guys from Atlanta, they don't sound anyone else. They're not trying to sound like a New Yorker, they sound like them. People in Chicago sound like them. Do you get it? While of us here, a man is here doing you're gonna sounding Jamaican. You're gonna sound that's why I always will forever respect Ashake. Because whatever he does, it still tries his best to infuse this culture in there, you know, just so you understand the level. So some of his greatest songs, he's not speaking, he's not trying to sound like your gunner, like Joe, Joe, and he's do uh see people dance to you, they don't even know what the heck he's saying. So, yeah, man. But shout out to shout out to them, man. They've done really well.
SPEAKER_02Listen, they watch listen, they they they are all doing their thing, bro. Yeah, man, they're all doing their thing. Before we leave this whiskey, um, I see whiskey. Before we leave this whiskey topic and everything, yeah, bro. Yeah, I was watching um Lai, Lai Wasabi. You you know who that is, the comedian guy, yeah. The comedian guy and everything, and he said something that really, really struck me, and that's exactly how I feel when it comes to the likes of whiskey, right? Because when I have conversations with a couple of my friends and everything, yeah, and they talk about yo, like I prefer the old whiskey, the old whiskey, the superstar whiskey, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, boom, boom, and all that kind of shit, right? They get surprised when they ask me, yo, which of the whiskey, which version of whiskey do I prefer? I said, bro, I prefer this one. A lot of people don't understand it. A lot of people debate me on that thing, yo, bro, like, what do you mean by that and everything? Yeah. But I think he explained it very well for me. I'm just gonna play for the audience and everything, and then we will then talk about it, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Uh cool. A lot of arguments in school because of whiskey and dividado. Yeah, you know, whiskey's music started to change at some point because obviously his audience started to shift, his audience started to increase, not shift. Yeah, it's gonna start to increase, his experiences started to change. And as a creative, you are mostly inspired by your experience. So you don't expect him to sound the way it sounded when it was starting from Costain down to Drew Legbah. Not at all. Because the audience has changed and the life is different. It's a soft man. And you know what's crazy? I started to enjoy whiskey when life started to get better for me. So again, I started to enjoy the new whiskey. Yes, one last time. I was a whiskey fan from the beginning. Then when his music went soft and you know, cool, being like, I can't hear the struggle. I need to hear the struggle. So when the struggle started to fade out, Castle Amigo. That's nice. That's nice. You start to enjoy music like that when you know you're in the car, the ST's on. So it kind of makes you understand the perspective from which the music even came from.
SPEAKER_02Bro, that is so true, bro. Yeah, from what he said was so true because because the thing is, I feel the same way too. Yeah. Yeah. At the point where I am in my life at the moment, yeah. I like there are some type of songs that I enjoy these days. You get what I'm saying? Like, I I honestly cannot listen to them whole superstar songs and everything. I can't listen, I can't vibe to all that shit. I need this new bro. Honestly speaking, I need this new smooth, you know, sort of songs and everything where I could just chill out, having a glass of wine or whatever, listen to what my man is saying, feel like I'm in Paris, feel like I'm in Greece or something, you get what I'm saying? Feel like I got some nice chick on my side and everything. You get what I mean? Like, he's he's tapping into that for me. You get me? I don't want to hear, you know, yes, maybe if I'm in a concert and I hear she's you get me cool. In the concert, that's gonna fly. I'm not playing that shit in my house. You get what I'm saying? I'm not I'm not playing that shit in my house. I'm playing frames. Yeah, you get what I'm saying? I'm playing the essence, I'm playing those sort of shit and everything because because uh at my age, where where I'm in in life and everything, that's how I feel.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. Yeah, you play songs based on how you feel. That's why music is an emotional experience, you know.
SPEAKER_02So you got what I'm saying? So when I was listening to to Lie Took and everything, Lai was like um when he was broke, he he he he enjoyed them struggle songs and everything, bruv. You get me? He could not relate to that rich shit, but then as he himself stayed seen money, he could not relate to the rich shit because that's his experience right now. You get me?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, I I totally that totally makes sense, and I understand when people think like that. For me, any version of Wiscade, man, it's it's a privilege, man. Like I said, I was there, I could understand, bro. When you play um Babala, you just know that yo, this brother was different, man. Oh my baby is fine now. And you're getting fine now, but I'm like, Mahala. You're like, yo, this guy was spazzing, you know. And then sometimes you hear songs like um, like you said, frames and all these other kind of chilled, mellowed, lo-fi kind of Afrobeat tunes. You're like, yeah, this guy's cooking as well. So I think it makes all the sense in the world. So, but but shout to Lai Wasabi, man. For very funny guy, bro.
SPEAKER_02Very funny guy, and um, and he communicates really well, of course, of course, communicates really well and everything. I I enjoy listening to him. He's one of the people that I actually enjoy listening to. For real, for real.
SPEAKER_01You go, I mean, very smart, very intelligent, bro.
SPEAKER_02It's been a good one, bruv.
SPEAKER_01Bro, we did it, man. Under this heat, bro. Under this heat.
SPEAKER_02If you don't rate, oh man, bro, under this heat is crazy, and what's the time right now? It's like about 12 fast and 12:30 midnight day, 12 30 midnight and everything, bruv. You give me just one of them ones, you know. But it's been a good conversation, bro. Yeah, it's been. I enjoyed it, man. It's been a good conversation, and for a remote recording, I really enjoyed it. Yeah, absolutely. You know, and I hope um the people as well enjoy it. And yeah, yeah, don't forget to subscribe to the channel, watch the videos, leave a like, leave a comment.
SPEAKER_01And also, guys, look out. We might start to start, we might start a space weekly or bi weekly, one of them.
SPEAKER_02We might, or no, we might or we will. Which one is it?
SPEAKER_01No, the reason I say we might is because you never know, man. I might end up becoming a billionaire, and I'll say let's go on holiday. Okay, what are you doing? What are you saying, bro? Fairs, fair, fair. They will go, then then they start to go, hey, what about that space you guys say you're going to do? They will know we're enjoying our life in central pay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, bro. But now for real though, yeah. Yeah, so um, I think um we we are planning to start the spaces every Wednesday, right? Or every Tuesday, which one is it?
SPEAKER_01Tuesday, Tuesday will make sense to be fair. Yeah, like every Tuesday. The reason is like second day of the week, that kind of in the middle, really. Nothing much has happened, so we can have a lot of conversations, all right. And it doesn't spill into the podcast topics. Instead, to be like a how do I put it? It'll be like a recap on what some people might have watched on the podcast on the Dynastic Media. Yeah, you know what I mean? Yeah. So what time on Tuesdays we can talk offline and decide it, but just watch out for guys, make sure you're following FOTB community on on X so you can see the space when it's scheduled, and you can, you know, you know, click on the alert so you can follow. But yeah, we can decide the time off. But it's definitely gonna be in the evening, obviously.
SPEAKER_02So all right then, cool. All right, yeah, no worries. Listen, people, I hope you enjoy your weekend and don't get too hot out there. Stay hydrated as well. Peace and love, man. See you next week. Salute.
